Please join us on November 7th for the next event of the Utah Valley Estate Planning Council.  We will be fortunate to hear from Keith Woodwell, Director for the Utah Division of Securities.  Mr. Woodwell will speak on current trends, new legislation, staying out of trouble, common scams, and how securities scams arise and can be combatted in the estate planning context.

Mr. Woodwell is a licensed attorney and spent six years in counter-terrorism for the National Clandestine Service of the Central Intelligence Agency.  He returned to Utah in 2008, at which time he took his current position.

Lunch and networking will begin at 11:30, and the presentation will begin at 12:00.

Speaker bio:

Keith Woodwell is the Director of the Utah Division of Securities, the state agency responsible for licensing and regulating broker-dealers, investment advisers, and their agents and representatives in the state.  Keith graduated magna cum laude from BYU Law School in 1995 and began his career practicing in the areas of securities law and commercial litigation at the law firms of Kesler & Rust and Brent R. Armstrong Law Offices in Salt Lake City.  Keith spent five years as Associate General Counsel to the Utah State Legislature and then following the September 11, 2001 attacks, took a six-year career detour to work in Washington D.C. and overseas in the National Clandestine Service of the Central Intelligence Agency.  In June 2008, Keith returned to Utah with his family and was appointed to his current post with the Division of Securities.
